" The Lompoc Recovery Center, which is operated by Good Samaritan Shelters, opened its doors and began serving clients last month. Dozens of area residents toured the facility at 104 South C St. and met with staff and administrators during the two-hour event.

The new recovery center is open to men and women, unlike the older facility run by Good Samaritan, which only served pregnant and nursing mothers.

Pat Brady, Lompoc administrator of Good Samaritan Services, said she was pleased with the turnout and excited about the new outpatient center.

“It’s great. We’re taking care of more people than we were before and serving more of our community.”

The center has two alcohol and drug counselors, who are seeing about 24 clients so far. Because sessions are held during different times of the day, there is no set cap on the number of clients who can utilize the facility.

In addition to addiction treatment, the center also offers mental health services. "
